Modern Assyrian Language (Sorith) in Nala, a language of speakers among villagers of 8 pure Christian countries, These villages are belong to Amadiya District / Duhok Governorate in Kurdistan / Iraq . The indigenous people, speaker of this language are about (1000) living in these villages. Their isolated and remote villages helped speakers keep their authentic language and vocabularies inherited thousands of years. In fact, the situation now is different and their language is endangered and vulnerable to die also due to the increase migrating to other places especially after ISIS appearance and also being obliged to go outside their area to work, a case that threatens the entity of their own and Assyrians in all in Iraq.

The language of this region is at risk of falling out of use and losing the treasures of a rich vocabulary and expressions; preserved only in memory of the centenarians, as a large number of the inhabitants and speakers of this language started to move and scatter in the big cities since years and then more people to immigrate to the diaspora because of the wars and repeated commotions in the region. Today, the danger of increasing migrations resulted from the attack of ISIS in June 2014 on many areas of the Iraqi minorities including the Assyrians, threatens the existence of these people accompanied by the disappearance of their own language, which evident from the current state of things; the number of the inhabitants has already decreased in this region (less than 1000) and most of the inhabitants have started to engage in schools and works in official governmental departments outside of their regions. Thus only dozens are left that have the knowledge and the linguistics inventory which is preserved particularly by the mountainous and agricultural environment of the region. The region imposes a direct relationship with the farmer, the land and with the mountain and the nature, for example they have no less than (35) terms to describe the various types of pebbles. The same holds true for the plow; the plow has at least (50) associated nouns. Therefore, the project aims to document the language of this region and its minute details, which is at risk of vanishing for many reasons such as, the assimilation of the speakers with the other dominant communities whose languages dominant for being the language of the schools, and work and media. All this takes place on the account of the language of the Assyrians. Another contributing factor: is the continuous persecution which is causing the Assyrians to migrate to the west, where their language is surely to disappear.
