Deposit history

The materials were collected between 06-2003 and 06-2006 by one linguist and three community researchers for each language, under the overall supervision of Nora England and under the auspices of Oxlajuuj Keej Maya’ Ajtz’iib’ in Guatemala. The personnel were: Uspanteko – Telma Can Pixabaj (linguist), Miguel Angel Vicente Méndez, Oswaldo Henry Ajcot Damián, María Vicente Méndez (community researchers); Sakapulteko – Romelia Mó Isém (linguist), Juan Carlos Vásquez Aceytuno, Juan Adolfo Solís Baltazar, Ana Luciana Arcón Puzul (community researchers). Nora England, Telma Can, and Romelia Mó planned the work; the community researchers did most of the collection, transcription and glossing of texts and most of the creation of the lexical database. Telma Can and Romelia Mó taught the community researchers how to collect and process the text and lexical material and supervised it closely. They also wrote the grammars, which have since been published in Guatemala by Cholsamaj (2007). The depositor of this collection was Nora England, the collection itself was achieved principally through the full-time supervision of Telma Can and Romelia Mó aided by the general supervision of Nora England, and was authored by Telma Can Pixabaj and Romelia Mó Isém (grammars); Miguel Angel Vicente Méndez (Uspanteko lexical database); Juan Carlos Vásquez Aceytuno, Ana Luciana Arcón Puzul, Juan Adolfo Solis Baltazar (Sakapulteko lexical database); Miguel Angel Vicente Méndez, Oswaldo Henry Ajcot Damián, María Vicente Méndez (Uspanteko text database with the speakers recorded for each text); Juan Carlos Vásquez Aceytuno, Ana Luciana Arcón Puzul, Juan Adolfo Solís Baltazar (Sakapulteko text database with the speakers recorded for each text).
