Golpa (golpa is a yolngu language and thus belongs to the pama-nyungan language family. within the yolngu language bloc it is counted among the nhangu varieties. golpa is a critically endangered language spoken by only a handful of speakers on elcho island, nt. the linguist bernhard schebeck has made numerous recordings of jbg's father in the 1960s. this project is the first attempt to process these recordings. apart from this material and very few remarks on golpa's grammatical system there are no records of the language.)
